Shaldon Music Festival 22nd – 25th June 2017

Shaldon’s festival of classical music, which began in 1990, was the inspiration of Eileen Croxford Parkhouse, cellist wife of David Parkhouse, as a memorial concert to celebrate the life of her husband who was born in Teignmouth and lived latterly in Shaldon.  David was Professor of Piano at the Royal College of Music.  The original concert proved so successful that it was decided to make it an annual event based at Shaldon Parish Church. The event has grown into a four-day festival drawing audiences from all over Devon and beyond and  2015 marks the 26th classical music festival . The aim of the Festival is to bring together singers and instrumentalists of international repute to provide a series of enjoyable concerts of good quality, live classical music, at affordable prices. The festival also  actively encourages both up and coming performers and reaches out to a younger audience with workshops for schoolchildren. Teignmouth Regatta Sat 30th July to Sunday 7th Aug

The town of Teignmouth has a strong maritime heritage and a history of being both a fishing port and a great family resort for holidaymakers so the Regatta is an important event that links the two. Today it remains a working port, with many types of sea craft using its harbour and facilities, while the community celebrates its fishing and sailing traditions every year at the Teignmouth regatta. The Regatta sees competitors from Teignmouth and the surrounding area gather to race, spectate and participate in a range of events related to the town’s links with the estuary and the sea.
