Coastal run 2013This will be the 38th annual coastal run organised by the Historic Transport Club, following a route of around 70 miles. Cars taking part can date back to the early 1900s and many are rare specimens with fascinating histories. Representatives of many famous motoring monikers, such as MGs, Jaguar and Bentley turn heads as they cruise past and the commercial vehicle section may prove to be equally fascinating with lorries , tractors and other vintage vehicles. There can be everything from a diminutive 1933 Austin Seven to a 1952 Scammell Explorer former British Army tank recovery vehicle. It is a very special sight to see these cherished vehicles in lovely condition joining the normal Sunday morning traffic.

The route includes the main road (A379) through Dawlish (passing within a mile of Sandays) and Teignmouth. There is usually a stop on Teignmouth sea front and at Buckfastleigh station. On completion of the run all the vehicles gather in a showground for the rest of the day, and stalls band, etc  make for a great afternoon.
