Visiting Exeter
Exeter is a beautiful and historic city well worth a visit at any time, and less than half an hour by train or car from Sandays. The regular train service from Dawlish Warren means that your car can be left at Sandays while you explore. Exeter is said to be the cultural heart of Devon and the West Country and the city supports a thriving arts scene through its many galleries, theatres and live entertainment venues. There is a first class museum (the RAMM) that organises talks, spotlight tours, and special events and exhibitions.
Shopping is wonderful with many independent shops, and can be interspersed with historical interest and good food & drink. The Red Coat Guided Tours and the Exeter University sculpture trail run all year round and are recommended. There are many interesting events in Exeter throughout the year that attract visitors and locals alike.
We particularly love the Exeter Quayside for its shops, eating places and scenic walks by the river.
