British Firework Championships in Plymouth

We were invited by the Rotary Club of Ivybridge to a charity evening on Wednesday 9th August to enjoy the spectacle of the fireworks competition in Plymouth Sound. It took us less than an hour from Sandays to the viewpoint around Victoria House in Cattedown overlooking the glorious Plymouth Sound.

This was our first visit to the British Firework Championships and we were lucky to get a lovely clear evening to have our picnic and watch the sun set before the first of 3 companies started their display from Mountbatten island around 9.30pm.

Three fantastic displays, but as we discovered later, none of them were winners! The top three all performed on the following night, with Selstar Fireworks from West Sussex taking the top spot.

We enjoyed the evening and although thousands of people converge on Plymouth for the event there are lots of different viewpoints so isn’t too difficult. Would certainly go again another year and recommend to our guests.
