Dawlish Countryside Park opened 3rd September 2017

The Dawlish Countryside Park has been created to provide additional recreational space in the area and, rather luckily, is within walking distance of Sandays. There are 2 pedestrian accesses off Shutterton Lane, so we can be into the park within 15 mins of leaving Sandays. There is also a car entrance and parking area just off the A379 close to Sainsburys.

Various walking routes have been created around the 65 acre park and there are some lovely views. It is hoped that the area will be a haven for wildlife as well as people and the park will be carefully managed to that aim. Some patches will continue to be farmed. Dog walking is being encouraged.

There were some archaeological finds on the site as it was being prepared, including pottery, Georgian coins and prehistoric worked flints which are currently being dated.
