A second successful Torbay Airshow

The second Torbay Airshow took place at the weekend and once again both we and some of our Sandays guests went along to enjoy the action. Both Saturday & Sunday turned out to be great days, good weather for the planes and the spectators.

We went on the Sunday and before the flying started there was a one minute silence for the victims of the terror attack in London on Saturday night. The response to the request was amazing: everyone stood absolutely still and quiet for the whole minute, it felt almost eerie in the setting we were in. Very moving.

The flying then started with a memorial flight of two aircraft of great importance during the second world war along with commentary that reminded us that the life expectancy of a Spitfire pilot was only 4 weeks, another sobering thought.

From that point onwards it was one amazing spectacle after another with barely a break between them. Such feats of engineering and skill happening right in front of of your eyes, whilst able to hear and see the pilots is awesome. Having The Tigers parachute team land a few feet away caused great excitement!

The whole event was beautifully organised and it is so easy to get there on the train from Sandays. Such a great day.
