Ways with Words Festival at Dartington

We visited the “Ways with Words” literary festival at Dartington today: this is one of the great pleasures of this time of year and was absolutely buzzing.
Dartington Hall is a magical place at any time with its combination of a medieval courtyard, the majestic Great Hall and the extensive gardens and woodlands. Into this glorious setting comes the Ways With Words 10-day festival, a chance for those who read books to meet those who write them. It is the range and scope of those books and their authors that make the atmosphere invigorating as people mingle to share the pleasure and power of language and ideas.
If you have never dipped your toe into a literature festival, try this one! It is well organised and varied with books a plenty, other art & craft items and a good number of options for food & drink (or take a picnic). Lots of deckchairs & outdoor seating if the weather is good, and some indoor areas if not.
It takes about 45 mins to drive to Dartington from Sandays, passing by edge of Totnes, and then the “Shops at Dartington” about a mile before the Hall.
